Student Support Binder

Student Support Binder Workshop

Professional. Organised. Prepared. Heard.

With more than 40 years of experience in libraries, records, and information management, I understand how vital it is to be organised when advocating for your child. I also know how overwhelming it can be to manage reports, emails, assessments, and school plans—especially in the lead-up to an educational or diagnostic assessment.

This workshop gives parents a clear and calm way to manage it all. You will walk away with a ready-to-use Student Support Binder and the confidence to use it effectively in ILP or SSG meetings, and as part of your child’s assessment journey.

A Student Support Binder is a simple, structured way to keep everything in one place—schoolwork samples, observations, past reports, ILPs, meeting notes, NDIS paperwork, and key school communications. It’s particularly helpful when preparing for assessments, as it provides the full picture of your child’s learning history and support needs.

It is the system I developed through lived experience as both a parent and an information specialist, and it is designed to help you feel in control.

Join parent advocate and information specialist Heidi for this two-hour workshop. You will gain:

  • A practical system to organise school and support documents

  • Information and tools for ILPs, SEAs, and school meetings

  • Advocacy confidence through plain-language guidance

  • Available in person (Melbourne) or via Zoom.
Booking includes a full resource kit.

Suitable for parents of primary or secondary students with:

  • Diagnosed or undiagnosed Specific Learning Difficulties such as dyslexia or dyscalculia

  • ADHD or executive functioning challenges

  • Medical needs, Safety Plans

  • NDIS preparation

What people are saying

“Just some feedback about Heidi's binder workshop - DO IT!!!!

I had my daughter's student support meeting this afternoon - and the binder was fanastic. Her classroom teacher said she loved the binder - and the learning diversity person was either shocked or excited that when they were saying what documents they needed, I had every single item there (even ones I'd already provided the school!). I felt in control - and more importantly confident enough to say to them that it's not my job to teach my daughter to read, but I will do everything I can to support her. Heidi - Thank you so much, I never would have been able to advocate for my daughter to this level if I didn't do your binder work shop."
